FVS Packages for LMS

The Landscape Management System (LMS) Version 3.0 includes support for the USDA Forest Service Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS ).

The LMS 3.0 Base Installation comes with the Inland Empire (IE), Northeast (NE), Northern Idaho (NI), Pacific Northwest Coast (PN), and Southern (SN) FVS variants. Additional FVS variants are available with the following FVS Variant install packages organized by region. If the FVS installation packages are located in the same directory when the LMS 3.0 install program is run you will be prompted to select which additional variants you would like to have installed. The FVS install packages can be run at any time to add variants to your copy of LMS. Downloading and installing these packages is the mechanism for updating FVS variants when LMS 3.0 program has not changed.

NOTE: The install packages can also be used to update FVS variants with LMS 2.0. See the Additional Information section for information on forcing the update of LMS 2.0 on a system with both LMS 3.0 and LMS 2.0.

FVS_Eastern_Base.exe FVS Base model variants for Central States (CS), Lake Stages (LS), Northeast (NE), Southeast (SE), and Southern (SN).
FVS_Northwest_Base.exe FVS Base model variants for Southeast Alaska and Coastal British Columbia (AK), Blue Mountains (BM), East Cascades (EC), Inland Empire (IE), Kootenai-Kaniksu-Tally Lake (KT), Klamath Mountains (NC), Northern Idaho (NI), Pacific Northwest Coast (PN), South Central Oregon and Northeast California (SO), and West Cascades (WC) .
FVS_RockyMtn_Base.exe FVS Base model variants for Central Idaho (CI), Central Rockies (CR), Eastern Montana (EM), Inland Empire (IE), Northern Idaho (NI), Tetons (TT), and Utah (UT) .
FVS_Southwest_Base.exe FVS Base model variants for Inland California/Southern Cascades (CA), Central Rockies (CR), Klamath Mountains (KT), South Central Oregon and Northeast California (SO), Utah (UT), and Western Sierra Nevada (WS).

Additional Information

These FVS install packages can be used with LMS 3.0 or LMS 2.0. The FVS install packages will automatically determine the location of LMS 3.0 or LMS 2.0 on your system. If you have only LMS 2.0 installed on your computer these FVS install packages will update your FVS variants for LMS 2.0. If you have LMS 3.0 installed the FVS install packages will update your copy of LMS 3.0 and you will need run each package with the "-2" command line option. To run the package open a command prompt and type the following:

MS-DOS> Eastern_FVS_Base.exe -2

You can download the following zipped batch files to simplify the updating of LMS 2.0 when both copies are installed on the same computer. Save the unarchived copy of the batch file in the same directory as the FVS install packages.

Update Batch File Description
LMS2_Update_Base.zip Install FVS base model variants for LMS 2.0 if they exist in the current directory.
LMS2_Update_FFE.zip Install FVS FFE model variants for LMS 2.0 if they exist in the current directory.
