Landscape Management System Version 2.0 - Support

Questions about the use of LMS and to report problems with LMS can be directed to lmshelpu.washington.edu. In addition there is an archived email list for communicating with other users of LMS.

Known Problems with LMS 2.0

  • Tables and treatments may fail with LMS 2.0.45r11

A file (MSVCR71.DLL) was missing from the LMS 2.0.45r11 installations created between late October 2005 and December 6th, 2005. If you have a version of LMS from this range and are having problems with tables and treatments you should obtain a new copy of LMS from the download page. Not all computer will be affected because the required file may have been distributed with other software you have on your computer.

Alternatively you can download the MSVCR71.DLL file and save it to your C:\Windows\system32 directory.

  • Landscape Projection fails after Landscape Visualization

There is a known problem with running simulations using FVS after doing a Landscape Visualization. The problem exhibits itself by LMS starting FVS simulations very fast and eventually getting an FVSFILTER error message. The problem involves the synchronization of programs and files on the hard disk.

The work around is to do at least one stand visualization with WinSVS before doing projections, or to exit and then re-open LMS.

  • Some table will not output to Excel

Some tables may not properly output to Excel because of limitations in the SQL interface used to send information to Excel. These problems come in one of two forms:

Error Explanation Workaround
"There is no data in the file." This is happens when there is only one line of data in the file. Open the table in the text editor or select more data for output (all stands or all years).
"Syntax error in field definition." Excel could not figure out the format and type of the fields. Open the table in the text editor. The data can be copied to Excel using Edit/Select All; Edit/Copy; then Edit/Paste into an Excel worksheet.
